I’m a little delayed in posting my work progress, because I’ve been so indecisive with the design! I actually started sketching and making mock-ups at the beginning of August.  I’m posting a few images of my planning process this past month. In the “creative” brainstorming phase I also need to consider important aspects of the mural … such as size, exterior vs. interior, surface preparation, and in this case the curved substrate which poses a whole different set of challenges! I learned alot when working on the 20 ft. curved wall mural at Joys House that will help my decisions on this project.

Vermont Street pedestrian bridge

I have recently started on my design for the Arts Council mural program. I’ll be creating a tile mural for two areas on the Canal, on the balconies of the Vermont St. pedestrian bridge. I completed this project in the winter months, during the studio construction. It was good to have something going on, a project to help me get settled into ‘work mode’ in the space (besides just setting up the studio itself).
The 1″ square green tiles are recycled glass. I created the border and accent pieces to tie-in the granite counter tops with the recycled glass.
